Capt. Noel's
Dream Diventure!

February 19-28, 2018 (Days aboard)

Dear Diver,
Thank you for your interest in our upcoming trip to Fiji. I have never been to Fiji and it’s always been on my “bucket list” as I’m sure on your’s as well. From experience with many live aboard dive trips, I’ve found that most of my clients prefer a 7 night stay aboard as opposed to 10-12 days. I had to beg the Siren Fleet to change their usual itinerary to accommodate my wishes for a slightly shorter trip at a slightly lower price. So, here I present our 2018 trip to Fiji!

In a nutshell, our trip will begin with a one night (19 Feb) stay at the
Voli Voli Resort that the Siren Fleet is partners with. We will board the “Fiji Siren” on 20 February to begin our incredible journey. We will remain on the boat until disembarking on the morning of 27 Feb. We will then head back to the Voli Voli Resort for the day until we have to leave for our evening flight the same day (27 Feb). To explain the itinerary more thoroughly, please see below the trip write up produced by the great folks at the Fiji Siren.

In order to reserve your spot, we require a non refundable deposit of $500.00. Nine months prior to departure (19 May) I will require another non refundable payment of $800.00. Final payment will be due ninety days prior to departure. Note that trip insurance is highly recommended in case you think you will have to cancel for any reason as once you have paid your deposit, you may be liable for full payment of your spot. Trip insurance can be purchased at DAN.org or Diveassure.com. Since I have contracted for the entire boat, if I cancel space within 9 months of departure, I am still liable for full payment of any unfilled spots.

Please make payments for boat space payable to Orbit Marine via check or cash. Please mail to Orbit Marine, 3273 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, CT. 06605. If you want to pay by credit card, a 3.5%processing fee will be added. Flights and any hotel stays that may be needed can be arranged through my booking agent Debie Isroff. Debie can be reached at debie@waylandtravel.com. I will present possible flights, tours, etc. via updates to our interest group. Note that there are direct flights to Fiji from LAX in Los Angeles on various carriers.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at any of the above numbers or e mail me at orbitdive@aol.com.

Again, thank you for your interest in this trip! Hope you can join us!

Itinerary: Beyond the Bligh (8 nights)
Date: 19th – 27th February 2018
Aboard: S/Y Fiji Siren

The Vessel…

Built by divers for divers, the 40 metre S/Y Fiji Siren offers comfort and luxury with all cabins air conditioned and offer their own personal computer, audio-visual entertainment system and en-suite bathrooms. For added luxury bathrobes, hair dryers and towels will be provided. The outdoor dining area is very comfortable and provides a fabulous setting for all your meals. An expansive dive and leisure deck provides ample space for kitting up. The vessel also benefits from 2 high-powered zodiacs, kayaks, wakeboarding, laundry and massage services and FREE equipment hire and nitrox.

The Itinerary…

This 7-night liveaboard dive trip takes you through dives at Bligh Waters with stunning coral pinnacles which attract schooling pelagics including barracuda & tuna. Cruise onwards through the Vatu-I-Ra Passage to dive at the Namena Nature Reserve, where hard coral gardens support a myriad of marine species and schools of colourful reef fish. The S/Y Fiji Siren then moves south into the Lomaiviti Island Group for dives at the islands of Gau and Wakaya. A mix of drift dives, coral gardens and pinnacles is to be expected, whilst keeping on the look out for manta rays and hammerheads as well as ribbon eels, leaf fish and numerous other smaller creatures. Grey reef sharks can be seen in schools at the mouth of the Nigali Passage.

Itinerary Highlights…North Save a Tack
A diverse reef structure and steep reef wall where you can descend to 30m (100ft) to watch for large pelagics. Schools of big eye jacks congregate here as do hundreds of unicorn fish and red tooth trigger fish. Continuing along the reef southwards you will come to a pinnacle known as “Kansas” named for the likeness to the wheat fields of the US State, due to an abundance of golden leather corals. A wide variety of reef fish, anthias and gobies can be seen along with octopus and garden eels.Grand Central Station
A delectable fish soup with schools of barracuda, trevally, parrotfish and trigger fish. Colourful damsel fish hover over the corals in clusters whilst dog tooth tuna, Spanish mackerel, white tip and grey reef sharks patrol the reef edge.

Nigali Passage
This is a deep channel and with an in-coming current attracts schools of pelagic fish. Barracuda and trevally jacks are a common sight at the channel mouth whilst grey reef sharks form schools at just 18m / 60ft. Hang out in the channel for most of the dive and watch the action then end your dive in the shallow lagoon as the channel ends. Also of note are the huge groupers that cruise about.

Lion’s Den
You will dive out into the blue to watch for patrolling hammerhead sharks and manta rays. White tips, grey reef sharks, schooling barracuda, batfish and hawksbill turtles are also commonly seen.

All dive sites are subject to weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
