NEW LOCAL WRECK FOUND!!! INFO BELOW UNDER WRECK DIVING!!
WE LOVE TO DIVE HERE TOO!
Orbit Marine operates two dive boats out of Capt. Cove Marina, historic Black Rock, Bridgeport. Local dives are offered from May through October, in addition to the year round Caribbean, Florida, and international destinations. Local dives are offered each weekend day in addition to Wednesday morning dives during the week. Call the shop at 203-333-DIVE (3483) or 1-800-395-DIVE (3483) , to ask for specific days and times for local dive trips
From Memorial Day through the end of October, Long Island Sound offers local divers the best of both worlds! Water tempertures range from the mid fifties in early spring and rise to 73 degrees the end of September!
Visibility will always depend upon rainfall and time of season. Early spring, when rainfall is typically heavier than summer months, limited visibility due to runoff and plankton bloom is normal. Visibility this time of year is between 3′-8′. Come late June, the dryer season begins and visibility and temperatures rise. Vis will get up to 15′ (great for notheast diving!) with water tempertures heading for the 70’s!
Local marine life is abundant! We have five varieties of sponges, coral, sea anemonies, sea urchins, sea stars, welks, moon snails, cunners, black fish, stripedbass, flounder, fluke, lobster, skates, clams, oysters to name a few.
OPEN WATER TRAINING DIVES
Our dive students do their training dives right here! No need to travel out of state for long costly weekends away from home and family. Our Open Water student dives are offered every Saturday and Sunday mornings or afternoons from 7am-noon or 1-4:30pm. Open Water student dives are performed in 20-30′ of water around our local rock reefs, wrecks and light stations. Our Open Water training dives package includes two mornings/afternoons of instructor lead boat dives daily (four training dives total), use of tanks, weights, weight belt, BCD, regulator, wet suit jacket, pants and hood. PADI or SDI Open Water Diver certification is also included. Not included are student’s mask, snorkel, fins, booties, gloves and log book. Gloves can be rented for just $3 per day. Total cost for this package is only $210.00. Referral students from outside Orbit Marine, please add $50.00 registration/extra instructor fee.

Shallow reef, Saturday and Sunday morning or afternoon dives are $65.00. The cost for a two tank deeper wreck dive is $70.00. No gear rental is included in the charter fee
