
Our NEW one day Basic OPEN WATER DIVER course meets just one Saturday, 9am – 4pm!
At least one week prior to class date, student must pay for course, pick up course text book, work book, log book and Student Record Folder. There’s a homework assignment that needs to be completed prior to class date. A 2.5 hour classroom session is held from 9am-11:30am at Orbit Marine. The Instructor will go over the home work assignment, answer any questions to assure student’s know all required material. After the classroom session, the class will transition to the Milford/Orange (Woodruff Family YMCA) OR University of Bridgeport for the pool session (12 noon-4pm).
Once the class and pool sessions are completed, in order to receive your certification card, four Open Water training dives must be completed. The dives can be done over two half days, with two dives completed each day. During the spring, summer and fall, dives can be completed locally on our Orbit Diver boats, or, with a referral from the Instructor, dives can be completed while away on a vacation.
The cost of this one day program is $360.00 per person. Course fee includes textbook, workbook, log book, Student Record Folder, all scuba gear except student’s mask, fins, snorkel, booties and log book. These items can be purchased from Orbit Marine and a courtesy 10% student discount will apply for all gear required for class. Or, pool gear can be rented for the day for $35.00.
Age minimum is 10. 10 and 11 year old’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
